Your @icloud domain IS waiting for you (if you want it, now)

Earlier this week, we reported that Apple was sending email to old Mobile Me and new customers advising them that they had the option to upgrade to the @icloud domain.

This caused a furry of discussions over on the Apple Discussion Board about if all users would have this option.
AppleScoop has confirmed that users can indeed use the new @icloud domain for their email address and even as a sing on name for the icloud service.
So, for example, if you currently sign in as joeuser@me.com, you can also login as joeuser@icloud.com.
We recommend that all users switch over to the @icloud domain as soon as possible, as Apple may discontinue the @me.com domain sometime in the future.
