While studying for his role in jOBS, Ashton Kutcher's Fruitarian Diet sends him to hospital
NBC’s Today – Actors like to get to know their characters inside and out, but Ashton Kutcher‘s attempt to channel late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs may have gone too far: He was hospitalized just before beginning the shoot on “jOBS” after following Jobs’ reported fruitarian diet. (Fruitarians generally limit their diet to fruits, nuts and seeds.)

“First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to, like, severe issues,” Kutcher told USA Today after the biopic screened at the Sundance Film Festival. “I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain.”
Why? “My pancreas levels were completely out of whack,” he continued. “It was really terrifying … considering everything.”
Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in October 2011.
Kutcher said he did everything he could to walk in the shoes of Jobs. In addition to the diet, the article said he studied hundreds of hours of tapes of Jobs and tried to mimic his walk and demeanor.
“He’s a guy that failed and got back on the horse,” said Kutcher. “I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again. I think I share that as well.”
