Web site TheVerge.com came up with an interesting observation that the “new Windows 8 logo” isn’t so new after all.  Yet another reason why a changing of the guard is in order.

Microsoft’s effort to “reimagine” Windows with version 8 has been fundamental, whether you’re talking about interaction methods, visual design, or pricing strategy, but one aspect of the new OS looks to have actually been inspired by its past: the logo. The two-dimensional Metro-style Windows flag that was introduced in February (and will feature on both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8) is closest in appearance to Microsoft’soriginal Windows logo. Both eschew gradients and other colors for a flat and neutral blue appearance.

Reminding us of this striking similarity is Minimally Minimal, the website of designer Andrew Kim, who has come up with a thoroughgoing design language of his own for Microsoft’s upcoming generation of Windows devices. You should definitely take a look at Andrew’s ideas, which aim to unify the mobile, desktop and slate computers that are coming up this year into a cohesive product that Microsoft can present to consumers.
