All versions of MacOS come with plenty of options for a desktop background (named Wallpaper).  But what if you want to use your own photos for the desktop?  Here’s the best way to do it.

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Right click on the Folder and select “New Folder”.
  3. Name it “Desktop Pictures”.
  4. Export or move any picture(s) you wish to have on your desktop in the Pictures -> Desktop Pictures Folder.
  5. After that, select   > System Settings.
  6. Select Wallpaper.
  7. Click on “Add Folder or Album”.
  8. Choose the new Desktop Pictures Folder.
  9. Now, that folder will show up with the other desktop background choices.
  10. Click on the picture you wish to have on your desktop.
  11. Choose what way you wish the picture to be shown.
  12. Click “OK”.
  13. That’s it.
