The long awaited Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker finally opened at the box office on Friday morning, and the numbers are in!
According to web site Deadline, the movie took in about $44 Million Dollars, which makes it the 5th highest opening for any film, which according to insiders, would be a fantastic start for any film pre-weekend.
Observers predict that the movie will make around $170M – $200M by this Sunday (12/22) and another $250M at the overseas box office.
In comparison to the other films:
- $45M – The Last Jedi.
- $29M – Rouge One.
- $14M – Solo.
In China, the movie is off to a dismalĀ $1.6 MillionĀ which is being beat by another Chinese Film debut on the same weekend.
Currently, the film as a 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
