For those who need a replacement device, you better hurry. This announcement will see replacement devices drop from 20,000 to 160 when the new device does become available – which will make it harder for persons to complete the current exchange program.
Included with the above statement, the company also said:
Samsung Electronics will do our utmost to promptly conclude the recall of the old units before resuming sales.
This delay is cutting into Samsung’s wallet from the highly embarrassing hardware problems and recall costs.
By last Saturday, only half of its customers had exchanged the device which made the company put out a statement that customers should power down the device until they can exchange it to prevent anymore fires.
The company declined to comment on why the process was taking longer in South Korea. On the first day of the exchange program, demand for the replacement devices in the capital, Seoul, had appeared to be thin. Only a handful of Note 7 owners visited one of the company’s service centers in the city’s business district.
