As for Microsoft’s Windows Phone, Symbian and HTML Web apps, the report found them lagging behind and classified them as “extension platforms“–meaning developers only code for these OSes in order to extend their reach into regions that their lead platforms do not cover.
iOS and Android are also where the lion’s share of the money is. And if you don’t actually develop for either one of these platforms, the report found that on average, developers only earned half the revenue.
iOS is also apparently cheaper to develop for, and developers in general reported that iOS has better revenue potential compared with Android–66 percent for iOS versus 12 percent for Android.
