Prep your device for iOS 10.
With iOS 10 scheduled to become public sometime tomorrow (Tuesday), it’s probably a good idea for you to make sure that your device is ready to download and install it.

First, you should make sure that your hardware can even handle iOS 10. Here’s a list of compatible devices:
iPhone compatible with iOS 10
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 5
iPad compatible with iOS 10
- iPad Pro 12.9 inch model
- iPad Pro 9.7 inch model
- iPad Air 2
- iPad Air
- iPad 4th generation
- iPad Mini 4
- iPad Mini 3
- iPad Mini 2
iPod Touch compatible with iOS 10
- iPod Touch 6th generation
If your device is not on the list, then you shouldn’t even attempt to download or install iOS 10.
Now you want to backup any data that you may have on the device. This can be done by:
- Connecting the iOS device to your computer and iTunes.
- The iPhone will back up the iOS device to your computer and/or your iCloud account.
- With the iOS device still plugged in, select SETTINGS > GENERAL > UPDATE.
- A screen will pop-up saying that the update is available.
- Please allow plenty of time for the update to occur (about 15-30 minutes).
- That’s it!
