Apple, on Thursday, announced several new products for the educational system.  As we all know, Apple has an excellent foundation for providing hardware and software for education establishments.

Below is an overview of what was announced:

– iBooks 2
Offering downloadable text books for students and teachers.  Offering interactive books, flash cards, organizational note taking and other content for the iPad.  iBooks 2 is available now, for free.

– iBooks Author:
A publishing tool which allows anyone to create interactive content for the iPad.  The app has a template chooser, layout like Pages, easy publishing to iBookStore.  Available now for free.

TextBooks:
Students can download popular educational text books on to their iPad for $14.99 or less.  Popular text books are available today.  Apple is starting with high school text books, but others will be available soon.

iTunes U app for iPad:
Offering full online courses from popular colleges and other educational establishments.   The app is available today, for free.
