Microsoft to discontinue 18,000 jobs in 2014, laying off more than 14% of their workforce

The ax has come down that the company will be eliminating 18,000 jobs (about 14% of their workforce) over the coming months. This comes as the company is trying to gain its footing after the lackluster sales of its Windows 8 operating system.
The layoffs are the most ever in the company’s history.
