The iconic boot-up chime had been on the Mac for a long time.  But when Apple came out with the 2016 Macs, the iconic chime was gone.  Although the company never actually said why it removed it, it has been missed by die-hard Mac users.

But the company has announced that it’s bringing back the iconic chime starting sometime this year.

By the way, if you really want to bring back the chime yourself, open up a terminal window, and type:

sudo nvram StartupMute=%00

Hit [Return].

Type in the Administrator’s Password

Hit Return

Close the Terminal Window.
