Starting with WatchOS3, Apple has added a new way for someone to get assistance while waring his/her Apple Watch. It’s called the Emergency SOS feature.
Here’s how to enable it:
- First, make sure the feature is enabled on the watch from the iPhone.
- Go to Apple Watch App > General > Emergency SOS.
- Make sure the above is turned ON.
- On the same screen, tap the Add Contact option.
- This will bring up your contacts.
- Select the person(s) that you wish to contact during an emergency.
To activate the Emergency SOS feature:
- Press and hold the side bar button for six seconds.
- A menu will pop-up with the “Emergency SOS” option.
- Tap it.
- It will then send a text message to your contacts letting them know that you’ve contacted 9-1-1.
- That’s it.
