Unpairing your Apple Watch from an iPhone is easy.  You may want to do this if you’re selling the watch to someone else, or as in this article, you’ll have to do so before updating it.

 Here’s how:

  1. Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone close together as you unpair them.
  2. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  3. Go to the My Watch tab and tap All Watches.
  4. Tap the info button  next to the watch that you want to unpair.
  5. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
  • For the GPS version, you’ll be prompted if you want to keep your cellular plan.  If you wish to pair the same watch, keep the plan.  Otherwise, cancel it so the new owner can put his/her plan on the watch.

BONUS: How to delete an Apple Watch if you don’t have an iPhone:

  1. On the Apple Watch, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
  2. If prompted, type your password.
  • Go to step 6.

That’s it.
