For those of you who don’t know, if you have an Apple Watch, you can automatically unlock your Mac without having to know a password.  How?  Read below:

  1. Make sure that your Mac and Apple Watch meet the system requirements for Auto Unlock.
  2. Make sure your device has WiFi and Bluetooth turned ON.
  3. Your Mac and watch are signed in to iCloud.
  4. That they’re using the same iCloud ID.
  5. Your Apple Watch is setup with a passcode.
  6. Choose the  (Apple Menu) > System Preferences.
  7. Select Security and Privacay.
  8. Choose “Use your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac”.
  9. Follow the screens.

Note:

If you’re unsure if your Mac supports this feature, you can look in the System Information window by going to: Apple Menu > System Information.  Select the WiFi sidebar, then look for “Auto Unlock Supported” on the right side pane (see below):
