FinderPreferences1

Over the years, I’ve run into new Mac users that are unaware that you can have a shortcut to the Documents, Movies, and Picture folders show inside the left column in the Finder, because they are hidden by default.

Here’s how to always show those folders when using the Finder:

  • Open the Finder.
  • Select FinderPreferences.
  • Select the Sidebar icon (as shown in the included graphic).
  • Put a check mark next to the folder(s) that you’d like shown.
  • Click [OK] when finished.
  • That’s it.

Now those folders will be shown each time anyone opens the Finder.
