How to test network connections via Terminal on Mac | CompuScoop.com

Did you know that you can test a network connection when you’re in the Terminal?  It’s called ping and it can be a lifesaver if you think a network is offline.

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. At the command prompt, type: ping [name of website or computer]
  3. Such as: ping www.foxnews.com
  4. It’ll show you the below output.
  5. That’s it.
