The Apple TV comes with a remote that should already be paired. But incase it isn’t or you have to replace the remote for one reason or another, here’s how.

  1. Plug in the remote to an USB or an USB-C charging wire.
  2. Make sure the Apple TV is tuned on.
  3. Point your remote at your Apple TV.
  4. Make sure that the remote is about three inches away from the Apple TV.
  5. Press and hold Back (or Menu) and Volume Up. for five seconds.
  6. If asked, place your remote on top of Apple TV to complete pairing.
  7. That’s it. 

You shouldn’t have to re-pair the remote after the above steps. But if you do, just do the above again.
