How to: Have your Mac Automatically Log You Out of a Session
Most of the time, I leave my Mac on all day. But then that means someone else could sneak in and use it without my knowledge. While I don’t have any “earth shattering” on it, I just don’t want anyone using it while I’m not around. Sure, I could manually log out each time, but that gets to be a pain in the ass.

Almost all versions of OS X has the ability for the computer to auto log a user out of a session after a given number of minutes without any activity (that is, if your Cat doesn’t walk across the keyboard like mine does).
Here’s how to enable it:
1. Go to Apple icon > System Preferences.
2. Select the Security & Privacy icon.
3. Click the General tab and then the Advanced button (lower-right).
4. Place a checkmark next to “Log out after ….. minutes of inactivity”
5. Set the number of minutes when the computer will automatically log you out.
6. Click OK.
That’s it.
