While most websites are compatible, some are not.  Safari indicates this by a document icon on the address bar (where you type in a URL).

Here’s how to enable it:

  1. Go to a website article.
  2. On the left of the address bar is a document icon.
  3. Click on the icon.
  4. The website turns black, and just shows the article.
  5. That’s it.

You can also have Safari automatically go into reader mode per website.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to an article on a website.
  2. Select “Reader Website Settings”.
  3. The System Preferences pane opens with a list of frequently visited websites.
  4. Select the site(s) you wish for reader to automatically come up.
  5. That’s it.
