How To: Control your TV's Volume with the New Apple TV Remote

Now that the new Apple TV has officially hit the streets, we can finally reveal that we here at AppleScoop were one of the ones who got accepted to get a developer’s unit when they were available, and were compiling helpful hits and tips that we could share with you when the unit became available to the public.

Our first hint is how to control your TV’s volume with the new Apple TV remote.  The setup is simple by following these steps:

1.  Go to Settings > Remote and Devices > Volume Control > Learn New Device.
2. Make sure you have your old remote handy for the next steps.
3. Grab your old TV Remote and point it at the Apple TV Remote.
4. When instructed, hold down the volume up and down buttons on the old remote.
5. The Apple TV Remote will learn the above commands.
6. Give your remote a NAME to help Apple TV know which remote to “look at”.
7. That’s it!
