Fortunately, starting with MacOS Sierra, Apple has added the ability to make the computer automatically put capital letters at the beginning of sentences and put a period when someone double taps the space bar.

Here’s how to enable it (example photo at end of article):

  1. Select   > System Preferences > Text.
  2. Over on the right, you’ll have four options: “Correct Spelling Automatically“, “Capitalize Words Automatically“, “Add Period with double-space“.
  3. Put a check mark next to the option(s) that you wish the computer does for you while you’re writing.

You can also use the option on the left side to add shortcuts for Emojis or just about anything else you can think of.
