Keeping your device(s) updated with the latest software updates is extremely important.  These updates may include necessary security or software enhancement updates to keep your personal data secure.

BUT Apple realizes that persons don’t always have time to sit down and get updates.  So that’s why the company gave iOS the ability to update itself, at a time when the device is not busy (usually between 2am – 6am local time).

In order for iOS to receive auto-updates over night, the device should either be plugged in, or have greater than 50% charge.

Here’s how to make sure the feature is enabled (or disabled):

  1. Go into SettingsGeneralSoftware Update.
  2. Select Customized Auto Updates.
  3. Here’s where you choose to have auto updates ON or OFF.
  4. That’s it.
