How to: Add shortcuts for words in iOS | CompuScoop.com

If you text a lot like I do, you wish that their was a way to type in a shortcut (like TNX for Thanks, or LOL for Laugh Out Loud).  Well, in iOS, there IS a way to do just that and it’s simple to activate.

1.  Go into SETTINGS > GENERAL > KEYBOARD.
2.  Scroll down to the SHORTCUTS section.
3.  You’ll notice that there are two shortcuts already there (brb and omw).
4.  Tap “Add New Shortcut.”
5.  In the PHRASE field, type in what you want the shortcut to be.
6.  In the SHORTCUT field, type in a shortcut (such as LOL).
7.  Tap the SAVE button, and then go back to the KEYBOARD section.
8.  You must do the above steps for each shortcut you want.
