This article may seem basic to some of you.  But I just found out how to do this and am going to share it with those who may not know that this feature exists on all iOS devices.

If you send text messages a lot, then you know that sending those messages can get blah and unexciting.  You can spice up those messages by including a small graphic called Emoji Icons to those messages.

To enable them, do the following:

1.  Go into SETTINGS > GENERAL.
2.  Scroll down until you see the KEYBOARD settings.
3.  Tap the “International Keyboards” option.
4.  Tap  the “Add New Keyboard” option.
5.  Scroll down the list until you see the “Emoji” option.  Select it.
6.  Now go out of the SETTINGS Application.

Try it.  Go into an app such as the SMS or the Notes app.  When you tap an area to type, you’ll see a new icon that looks like the world (lower left, next to the 123 key).

To expand those choices, there are iOS apps [iTunes Link] that’ll let you expand the choices.

This feature should work with all iOS versions starting with iOS 3.

Have fun!   🙂
