How to add an [ESC] key to an iPad External Keyboard:

  1. Go to Settings > General and the choose Keyboard.
  2. Go to “Hardware Keyboard”.
  3. Choose “Modifier Keys”.
  4. Choose “Caps Lock Key” and select “Escape” as the modifier key.
  5. Thats it.

You can also remap other keys with the above and it works with all iPad models.
