Here are the updated prices:
• Standard with ads: $7.99 (previously $6.99) per month
• Standard without ads: $17.99 (previously $15.49) per month
• Premium: $24.99 (previously $22.99) per month
These price adjustments apply to customers in the United States, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. In their shareholder letter released today, Netflix justified the price hike as a means to fund further content investment.
As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we occasionally ask our members to pay a bit more so that we can reinvest to further enhance Netflix. To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.
This announcement coincides with Netflix’s impressive Q4 2024 earnings report. The company added 18.9 million new subscribers, significantly surpassing the anticipated 9.6 million. This brings their total subscriber base to 302 million paid subscribers globally. Revenue for the quarter reached $10.25 billion, surpassing the forecasted $10.11 billion, with earnings-per-share at $4.28 against an estimated $4.20. Furthermore, Netflix announced a new $15 billion share buyback program.
