Get help with Lion from AppleScoop.com
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
Over the past few months, I have been involved in the Lion Beta Testing Program. Unlike other web sites, I could not talk about or discuss anything relating to the operating system. However, I have been taking notes on what’s new, how you could make Lion better, and other topics along the way so when I could write about the O/S once it was released to the public, I would have a whole host of stuff to write (and help our readers) about.
In the next few minutes, I will be going through my notes and posting what I found out about Lion, and how you, our readers, can take advantage of new features and what they mean for the end user.
So, sit back, relax, and let’s get started.
INSTALLATION:
First things first, one has to GET Lion onto their computer before they can take advantage of it. Unlike other operating systems, Lion can be purchased and downloaded from the Mac App Store. Once one purchases it, the download should begin. The download can take anywhere from 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on the speed of one’s Internet connection.
The download will appear on the Dock. Once finished, a user clicks on the Lion icon for the installation to begin. Here’s what it does:
1. Copies necessary files to a temporary location on the hard disk. This speeds up installation times.
2. Once completed, the computer reboots and then begins the installation.
3. Installation times can vary. So, allow ample time for the install to complete.
4. When that’s done, the computer once again reboots and goes into Lion.
5. Unlike previous versions of Mac OS X, Lion does not have a welcome video.
6. Lion does have a little “how to” start up video on how to take advantage of the multitouch gestures that’s built into the new O/S.
Congratulations! You’re now in Lion.
Now that you have Lion installed, it’s time to go exploring. That’s where my other articles will be posted within the next few weeks. 🙂
