I’ve been using Photoshop for years. First with a PC, and then when I got my first Mac. But the one thing that always peeved me is, Adobe (makers of Photoshop) will only allow the application to go on two computers. That’s all well in good, but what if one of the computers goes down and you didn’t deactivate the copy of the app.
The other day, I needed to make a graphic for this web site. I installed Photoshop and lord and behold, the app would not let me register it, claiming that the two copies were already registered.
So, I went on the Mac App Store, and came across an app called Pixelmator. Pixelmator is an answer for those persons who need a simple (yet powerful) desktop publishing software without the price for Photoshop.
For the price of $29.99, (compared to over $300.00 for Photoshop) the app allows the user to do most things that he/she would do in Photoshop. With the Mac App Store’s “buy once, install on all Macs” policy, purchasing this application is a no brainer.
Pixelmator’s features rival Photoshops. The user can create, edit and touch up standard picture file formats including Photoshop’s.
The latest version takes advantage of Lion‘s full screen mode, so one can really be “enveloped” with what he or she is doing.
The layout of the app is stunning. If you’ve worked in any type of desktop publishing app, you’ll immediately feel comfortable with the app’s layout.
