So what is happening and when could you expect CNN to start streaming on Max? Today we are going to break down everything we know.

What do we know for sure about Warner Bros. Discovery plans for CNN and Max?

Earlier this year before HBO rebranded as Max, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery David Zaslav said, “We’re a global leader in sports. And we’re a global leader in news. And in a few months, we’ll come back to you with details of our attack plan to use this important and differentiating live content to grow our streaming business even further.”

Max already streams films and documentaries about sports and has already begun live-streaming some sports events. Adding news to the mix is a logical next step if the streaming service aims to continue growing its audience. A number of streaming platforms offer some type of news, but it’s often limited in scope and not always live.

When could a live feed of CNN join Max?

According to Bloomberg, CNN will join Max internationally sometime in 2023. There are plans in the works to expand that to the United States at some later date.

How likely is this to happen?

Bloomberg seems to feel conferral enough to post the story, but other sources are saying not so fast. According to a report by Deadline, a source at Warner Bros. Discovery said the Bloomberg report was premature.

Warner Bros. Discovery is not alone in its plans to go direct to consumers. Disney is also reportedly planning on offering ESPN as a stand-alone streaming service last some point in the future. For now though no dates have been announced.

While no details or official announcements by Warner Bros. Discovery or Max have been released yet, live-streaming news is coming to Max eventually. The question now is what will that look like and how soon will it happen. Stay tuned for more information about Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans to sue CNN with Max.
