Okay, so Mountain Lion is finally here, and you’ve been waiting to install it on your Mac. But before going to the Mac App Store, you should make sure of the following things:

1. Make sure your Mac can even run 10.8. Just go to Apple’s Mountain Lion page and make sure your Mac meets the minimum system requirements.
2. Make sure you make enough time to download it. The download can take anywhere from 30 to 6o minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
3. Backup, backup, backup! Backup your Documents, Music, and Picture Folders to an external source. Even if you use Time Machine for your backups.
4. Allow ample time for the installation. Depending on your Mac, the actual installation time can vary from 30 to 60 minutes. Once the installation begins, do not abort it.
5. After the installation, the computer will reboot and bring you to the login screen.
Sign in as normal, and start enjoying Mountain Lion.
