Example of Xcode’s Behavior Window.

For anybody using Xcode to develop apps, you know how long it could take for the app to Build and compile your app’s code.  During this time, you could be doing something else while you’re waiting for the compiler to finish.  Wouldn’t it be great if Xcode alerted you when it’s done?  Well, there is.

You can have Xcode play a sound file when it’s finished doing various tasks.

Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Go into Xcode as normal.
  2. Open a project.
  3. Go into File > Settings.
  4. Click Behaviors.
  5. On the left side, is a list of behaviors that Xcode does when you ‘tell’ it to do something.
  6. Click on the behavior on the left, and then put a checkmark next to ‘Play Sound’.
  7. Select the sound that you wish to hear when Xcode executes that command.
  8. Repeat steps 6-7 for each behavior you wish to configure.
  9. That’s it.
