Siri can now help users access and log their Health app data

watchOS 10.2, iOS 17.2, and iPadOS 17.2 are available today, allowing Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, iPhone, and iPad¹ users to conveniently access and log their Health app data using Siri.

With the all-new S9 SiP, Apple’s most powerful watch chip yet, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 can now process Siri requests on device. On-device processing — also available on iPhone and iPad — means users’ Health app data never leaves their device to complete a Siri request, helping protect user privacy.

Siri can answer requests related to over 20 Health app data types stored on Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad.

For example, users can now ask:

“Siri…”

“How does my Move ring look today?”
“Did I close my Exercise ring?”
“What’s my step count?”
“How far have I walked this week?”
“How far did I bike yesterday?”
“What’s my heart rate?”
“What’s my blood oxygen?”
“How much did I sleep last night?”
“How much have I slept this week?”
“What’s my blood glucose level?”²
“What was my blood pressure yesterday?”²

Users can also ask Siri to log:

“Siri…”

“I took my 8 a.m. medications.”³
“Log that I took my multivitamin.”³
“I weigh 167 pounds.”
“My period started today.”
“Log that I have spotting today.”
“My blood sugar is 122.”
“Record my blood pressure as 118 over 76.”
“Log my body temperature as 98.3 degrees.”

Siri requests related to Health app data are now available in English (United States) and Mandarin Chinese (China mainland), with more languages to follow.

Available on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), and iPad (8th generation and later).
Requires a third-party monitor connected to the Health app.
Users must set up a medications list in the Health app to log this data.

MacOS: How to Spruce Up Apple Calendar with Emoji icons

Apple Calendar is an extremely powerful tool once you get to know it. I use it for all of my appointments and to even remind me when my favorite TV shows are on.

In this how to, I'm going to assume that you know how to add a calendar event, and know your way around the add event window. If you don't, then you can find plenty of text and video tutorials.

This trick works best on a Mac, but it can be done on iOS with a few tweaks. I am going to use Mac in this example.

Now, lets open the Emoji icon window on Mac:

Use the keyboard shortcut Command + Control + Space.
The Emoji window opens.

These are the emoji icons you'll use inside the calendar. You can search for any icon using the search bar at the top of the window.

Here's how to add an emoji to a Calendar event:

Open Calendar.
Go to an event or add a new event in the Calendar.
While in Edit Mode, use the keyboard combination as described above.
Select an Emoji by clicking on it.
It'll appear on the "New Event" field.
Now you can fill in the rest of the calendar event as normal.
That's it.

You're calendar should look like the one below:

You'll then save the event as normal. Just repeat the steps above to make your calendar look like above.

‘Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition’ now available for iOS / iPadOS

After multiple delays, Rockstar Games’ remake/remaster of the classic “Grand Theft Auto” trilogy is now available on iOS, iPadOS, and Android through Netflix Games and as standalone releases for $19.99 each.

All three games were to be Netflix exclusives or at least it seemed that way, but they can be bought standalone as well from today. As a value add to the service, this is easily the biggest get for Netflix Games on mobile so far.

As of this writing, the original games (non “Definitive”) are still on mobile and have not been delisted. I’m looking forward to digging into Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition on iPhone and iPad later today. Note that you may need to download additional data within the games after grabbing them from the App Store.

Apple expands Self Service Repair and introduces new Diagnostics process

Apple is expanding Self Service Repair, and launching a new diagnostic tool that gives users more transparency and autonomy to troubleshoot issues. Self Service Repair is now available for the iPhone 15 lineup and Mac models powered by the M2 lineup, including the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac mini, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio. Self Service Repair is also now available for Apple users in 24 additional European countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, and Switzerland. With this latest expansion, Self Service Repair now supports 35 Apple products in 33 countries and 24 languages.

Additionally, Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair is available today in the U.S., with availability in Europe to come next year. Intended for users with the knowledge and expertise to repair Apple devices, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions will give customers the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and Independent Repair Providers to test devices for optimal part functionality and performance, as well as identify which parts may need repair.

Launched in April 2022, Self Service Repair gives anyone with relevant experience repairing electronic devices access to the manuals, genuine Apple parts, and tools used at Apple Store and Apple Authorized Service Provider locations.
