If you're a weather geek like I am, and want to know the weather without having to go to web sites such as Weather.com, then you can use the weather app on your Mac.

The Mac weather app has a very good overview of the weather in your area.  It does this by using your Mac's location and displaying the current weather conditions.

How to get the weather app:

  • Go to Finder > Applications > Weather.
  • That's it.

If this is the first time you're using it, it'll ask for your permission to use your location to get the weather.

Did you know that you can also see weather from other areas around the world?

Here's how:

  • At the upper-right corner of the window is a search bar.
  • Click in that search bar.
  • Type the name of the city you wish to view.
  • A drop-down window will appear with possible names for that city.
  • Select the city, and then the weather will appear.
  • To save the city for future reference, click ADD.
  • The city will be saved on the left side of the window.
  • That's it.

These tips will also work with the iOS version of the app as well.

Using your iOS device as an informational tool

Information - humans need it and consume it all the time, especially when it comes to social issues such as Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, or other topics that are seem to be hidden away in society.

A company called Connecting People Software is trying to change that by making iOS, AppleTV, and WatchOS apps for bringing such topics to the forefront of the conversation by providing such information in an easy to read reference on the said devices.

These apps are free and are being used in educational institutions around the world to try and further educate future case workers.  They're also being used by doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals as a quick reference.
