Women loses AirPods on plane, and tracks them to airport worker’s home

[CNN] Earlier in March, Alisabeth Hayden, from Washington state in the US, was separated from her AirPods – Apple’s pricey micro headphones – while disembarking from a plane in San Francisco. She swiftly realized that they appeared to have been stolen.

Hayden used inflight Wi-Fi to track the earphones using the “Find My” app, which tracks Apple devices. The AirPods were showing at SFO. Then she realized they were moving… They moved to Terminal 2. Then to Terminal 3. Then they were on Highway 101, heading south towards San Mateo. They ended up at what appeared to be a residential address in the Bay Area, and stayed put there for three days.

United [Airlines], she says, were “godawful” in their communications with her… The person who helped? A detective from San Mateo police force, working at the airport.

United confirmed to CNN that the employee works for a United vendor, and said that the matter has been handed over to law enforcement…

The matter is now being handled by the San Francisco Airport Police Department, which plans to submit the case to the San Mateo District Attorney’s office, a spokesperson for San Mateo County confirmed to CNN.

After 12 days of chasing, Hayden finally got her AirPods back – although not in peak condition. “They look like they’ve been stomped on,” she says. “They were wrapped in a toilet paper-sized piece of bubble wrap, Why bother?”

When she flagged United about their condition, she says, she was told to leave feedback through the contact form on its website. A week later, and after CNN first contacted the airline about her case, Hayden was told she would receive $271.91 in “expenses” (to buy a new pair) plus 5,000 miles as an apology.

How to have another way to edit the info.plist file in Xcode

The info.plist file that's included in Xcode tells your app information about it.

  • The name of the app.
  • The version number.
  • The orientations that the app can be shown in.
  • And more.

Although rarely, app creators may have to edit this file from time to time.  There are two ways to edit the file.

Option #1:

Open an Xcode project.

  1. Click on the project's name at the top of the Project Navigator.
  2. Find the TARGET section (right side).
  3. Click on the Target.
  4. On the upper-right window, find Info.
  5. You can now edit the file.
  6. That's it.

Option #2:

  1. Open an Xcode project.
  2. In the Project Navigator, find the info.plist file.
  3. Right click on the file.
  4. Select Open As....
  5. You have two options:
  6. 1) Source Code - Will bring up an editor where you can edit the raw file.
  7. 2) Property List - You'll see an editor like the one shown in option #1, #6.
  8. That's it.

Apple stops Sprint Activations for iPhone

Apple is no longer allowing customers who purchase an iPhone, cellular iPad, or Apple Watch to activate a device with now-defunct mobile carrier Sprint. Apple has also removed remaining references to Sprint from its online store.

When checking out with a new purchase, Sprint is no longer an option for connectivity, a change that Apple appears to have implemented today. Prior to now, Sprint customers were still technically able to activate Sprint devices through the T-Mobile network, and Apple listed Sprint carrier deals.

Given that T-Mobile completed its Sprint merger back in 2020, it is likely that this change will not affect many people. Many Sprint customers have already been transitioned to T-Mobile accounts and are no longer technically Sprint customers, but there may still be some individuals out there who have not yet completed the transfer over to T-Mobile.

Sprint customers have technically been using the T-Mobile network since shortly after the acquisition, as T-Mobile began incorporating Sprint spectrum into its network in April 2020.

Former Sprint customers who are experiencing issues related to their service should contact T-Mobile for help as they will need to move their Sprint accounts to T-Mobile to activate their devices.
