92 Year Old Rupert Murdoch steps down as chairman of Fox Corp and Fox News

Fox Corporation has announced that Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as chairman of the board of both Fox Corporation and Fox News.

Murdoch said in a memo to employees:

"Our companies are in robust health, as am I," the elder Murdoch said in a note to employees. "We have every reason to be optimistic about the coming years – I certainly am, and plan to be here to participate in them. But the battle for the freedom of speech and, ultimately, the freedom of thought, has never been more intense."

Lachlan Murdoch, one of his sons, will become sole chairman of News Corp. and will continue as Fox Corp.'s executive chair and CEO.

The move will be official this November.

Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup is eSIM-only in the U.S.

In America, Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup won’t ship with a physical SIM card slot. As with the iPhone 14 lineup before it, all iPhone 15 models are eSIM-only in the U.S.

Apple has pivoted entirely to eSIM technology [in the U.S.].

While some iPhone users may have already made the transition to eSIM, such as with the iPhone 14 last year, there are many users who have not. Ahead of iPhone 15 orders arriving on Friday, here are some details on eSIM support from Apple.

The iPhone lineup has supported eSIM technology for many years. The iPhone XS was the first model to add the technology and each new iPhone since then has supported eSIM. Each of those iPhone models also offered a nano SIM card slot as well. So if you didn’t want to use an eSIM, you didn’t have to.

eSIMs, sometimes referred to as embedded SIMs, are still SIM cards, but they’re electronically programmable. This means there is no physical SIM card that has to be inserted into your iPhone or activated. Instead, you log in with your carrier information, and the carrier will remotely provision your iPhone so it can be connected to their network.

Once this process has been completed, your iPhone works just as it would with a physical SIM card. It’s also important to note that only the iPhone 15 models sold in the United States will be eSIM-only. Models sold in other countries will still have a nano-SIM card slot.

  2. Turn the phone to Landscape Mode.
  3. When the phone goes into standby mode, the clock appears.
  4. To change it, scroll up or down until you find a clock you like.
  5. That's it (for now).

Apple TV Can Be Restored With an iPhone Starting With iOS 17

Starting with the iOS 17 and tvOS 17 software updates released on Monday, any Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K model experiencing problems can be restored with a nearby iPhone, according to a new Apple support document.

If a black screen with an iPhone appears on the TV, users can unlock their iPhone, hold it close to the Apple TV, and follow the on-screen recovery steps on the iPhone. When the recovery process is completed, the Apple TV will reboot.

On the Apple TV HD, there is a USB-C port that allows the device to be restored with a Mac over a wired connection. However, there is no USB-C port on any of the Apple TV 4K models, so Apple advised customers to contact Apple support to restore those models. With the new iPhone-based restore method, that is no longer necessary.
