How to change the View of the Finder

As a Mac user. you'll find yourself using the Finder quite often.  So it is important that you can change it so you can find app(s) or file(s) as quickly as you can.

It has 4 ways to view documents and/or files:

  • Icon - Each directory or file will appear as an icon.
  • List - Each directory or file will appear in a List..
  • Columns - Each directory or file will appear in Columns (as shown in the example).
  • Gallery - Each directory or file will appear as a mini photo gallery.

Here's how to change the view:

  1. Click on the icon that's shown in the photo above (above RED Arrow).
  2. A list comes down with the 4 options described above.
  3. Choose an option.
  4. That's it.

This will work in the newest version of MacOS.

MacOS Sonoma: How to add widgets to your desktop

One of the great new features of MacOS Sonoma is the ability to add widgets to your Desktop.  Widgets allow a user to have quick, updated information at a glance - just like they can on an iOS device.

Adding widgets is simple.

  1. Go to a blank area of the Desktop.
  2. Right click.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Edit Widgets....
  4. A Widget window will appear from the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select a widget, then drag and drop it on the screen.
  6. Move the widget to where ever you'd like.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each widget you'd like to add.
  8. That's it.

Warning: Disney+ begins password-sharing crackdown

Starting on November 1st, Disney will begin restricting Disney+ password sharing in Canada, at least, to start.

Password sharing is the ability to use the same username and passwords on the same streaming service from multiple people.  So, if Jonny went off to college and wanted to use your username and password to login, they could.

But thanks to Netflix doing this earlier this year, now almost all of the streaming services are starting to implement the crackdown.

How does it work?

Each computer on the Internet has an Internet Protocol (IP) Address.  The online service monitors those IP addresses and assigns that to one's username and password.  Logins are fine as long as that computer is using the same IP Address.  But if the same username and password use a different IP, then the online service won't allow that computer to sign in.
