What to do if you accidentally quit Finder on Mac

As we all know who use Macs, the Finder (just like the Start Button in Windows) can be a very important area to learn and use on a Mac.  It can also be a pain in the ass too.

Sometimes, you have to quit the Finder for the below reasons:

  • Not enough RAM.
  • Low system storage.
  • Corrupt system preferences.
  • Hung background applications.

You can quit the Finder by doing the following:

  1. Open Finder, press and hold the Option Key.
  2. Select the Main Apple Menu () and press Force Quit Finder.
  3. The Finder will now restart.
  4. That's it.

You can also quit it by doing the following:

  1. Press the [Command] + [Tab] keys.
  2. Move to the Finder icon.
  3. Press [Command] + [Q].
  4. That's it.

If you do the above, the Finder may not restart.  In that case, do the following:

  1. Press the [Command] + [Spacebar] keys.
  2. Spotlight search opens on the desktop.
  3. Type: Finder
  4. That's it.
