Apple “shoves” out update for tvOS a week after a major update

Reports are coming in that Apple has issued an update to tvOS, a week after the company sent a major update for its tvOS devices.

tvOS 15.5.1 can be gotten via the software update in settings.  Those devices that are set to auto update will automatically receive the update usually during the late night hours, and if the device is not being used at that time.

To update, just go to -> Settings > System Update.

Apple Stores Rolling Out iPhone-to-iPhone Contactless Payments Starting Today

Apple in February unveiled a new "Tap to Pay on iPhone" feature that will allow compatible iPhones to accept payments via Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets, with no additional hardware required.

Apple began testing the feature at its Apple Park Visitor Center earlier this month, and now Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has tweeted that the feature will begin rolling out to Apple Stores across the United States starting today, allowing customers to try it out. The feature might not be available at every Apple Store immediately.

Apple said the feature would launch in the U.S. later this year, but the company has yet to share a specific launch timeframe. The feature will allow small businesses and merchants to accept contactless payments through supported iOS apps using an iPhone XS or newer. At checkout, the merchant will simply prompt the customer to hold their own iPhone or Apple Watch, contactless credit or debit card, or other digital wallet near the merchant's iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology.

Currently, merchants that accept contactless payments on an iPhone must rely on additional hardware like the Square Reader, which comes in various models that work wirelessly or connect to an iPhone's Lightning connector or headphone jack.

Report: Development of ‘at least one’ iPhone 14 model hit by China COVID lockdowns

Development of “at least one of Apple’s new flagship iPhones for this year” has fallen behind schedule due to disruptions from the monthlong COVID lockdowns in China, Nikkei Asia reports citing “multiple sources with direct knowledge of the matter.”

Apple has told suppliers to speed up product development efforts to make up for the lost time, which in the worst-case scenario could impact the manufacturing schedule and initial production volumes of the new phones… Lockdowns in and around Shanghai began in late March as part of China’s strict zero-COVID policy, and the impact on supply chains continues to linger despite an easing of restrictions.

“It is challenging to make up for the lost time… Apple and its suppliers are working around the clock to speed up development,” said an executive with an Apple supplier, adding that the pace of reopening in Shanghai is “rather slow.”

The sudden imposition of strict containment measures following a smattering of confirmed cases in the country, followed by monthlong lockdowns in Apple’s most important electronics clusters, caught the tech giant off guard, the people said.

Eddie Han, an analyst with Isaiah Research, told Nikkei Asia… “Currently, we don’t think the delay would immediately affect the schedule for the product launch, but we need to monitor closely whether there are some hidden and longer-term impacts.”
