Rumor: First Apple silicon Macs to be 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and 13-inch MacBook Air

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant said on Monday that it will hold an online event dubbed “One more thing” on Nov. 10. That “thing” will be Macs with main processors designed by Apple for the first time, replacing Intel chips that have been a mainstay since 2006.

Apple and overseas suppliers are ramping up production of three new Mac laptops with Apple processors: new 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and a new 13-inch MacBook Air, according to people familiar with the matter. Beyond the processor switch, the devices won’t have significant design changes.

The first Mac processors from Apple will be based on the A14 chip found in the latest iPhones and iPad Air, and tests inside Apple indicate improved power efficiency over the Intel parts they are replacing. The new machines will also have Apple-designed graphics and machine-learning processors.

Apple said in June that the transition away from Intel chips will take two years. After updating its laptop line, Apple will still have until 2022 to update desktop computers — the iMac, iMac Pro, Mac Pro and Mac mini — with its own processors.

The company is already at work on a redesigned iMac, the company’s all-in-one desktop, and a new Mac Pro model, Apple’s highest-end desktop, other people familiar with the company’s plans said.

Apple engineers are currently developing a new Mac Pro that looks like the current design at about half the size. It’s unclear if that Mac will replace the current Mac Pro or if it’s an additional model.

Apple announces AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues

Apple has announced the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues. Apple has determined that a small percentage of AirPods Pro may experience sound issues. Affected units were manufactured before October 2020.

An affected AirPods Pro may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:

• Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone

• Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will service the affected AirPods Pro (left, right or both), free of charge.
Note: No other AirPods models are part of this program

Service Process
Choose one of the service options below to have your AirPods Pro serviced. Your AirPods Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that they are eligible for this program. AirPods Pro (left, right or both) with a confirmed issue will be replaced. The AirPods Pro case is not affected and will not be replaced.

• Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

• Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store.

• Contact Apple Support.

This worldwide Apple program doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the AirPods Pro. The program covers affected AirPods Pro for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

FaceBook Expanding Dark Mode testing to iOS and iPadOS Apps

For quite sometime, Facebook has offered DarkMode for its web portal.  Now it seems that they are expanding the feature to other platforms, such as iOS and iPadOS.

In a post to Twitter, Jane Manchun Wong published a video made in collaboration with Facebook, showing off how the mode looked. The post from Friday advised that the mode was being publicly tested from that date, with more users starting to see the option in the app.

If this option is available to you when using the app, an option will appear under the Settings & Privacy menu. Options will allow the app to be permanently light or dark, or to automatically change along with other apps as part of the main iOS feature.
