Apple TV may be coming to the Xbox

Apple TV is Apple's growing media service, allowing you to subscribe to a range of original productions, and pick up digital copies of movies and shows outright from across Apple's hardware ecosystem. Apple has been gradually rolling out apps for smart TVs and other platforms to expand its reach, and now it looks like Xbox consoles are soon to be in the running.

Apple TV appears to be available to a limited pool of testers on Xbox consoles according to a tweet from @Tzunami_Sapp and other users that have messaged us to verify. It appears likely that Apple TV for Xbox will be identical in features and functionality to the TV apps available on LG and Samsung TVs, but designed to work with an Xbox controller instead of your remote. The app includes access to Apple TV services, including its Apple TV+ subscription service launched in late 2019. The testing program has briefly appeared for some users, although with availability still locked down at this point in time.

Apple has announced that it has launched new marketing tools for developers to help them advertise there apps online and elsewhere.

Those tools, which Apple announced in a developer update, include new short links, embeddable codes or QR codes that open an App Store page, and downloadable App Store badges that lead a user to an app listing, among others. Developers can also generate a high-quality version of their app's icon.

YouTube TV dropping Fox Regional Sports Network

After renegotiating with Sinclair to continue providing access to regional sports networks earlier this year, YouTube TV has announced that the contract extension is expiring and the streaming service will drop FOX RSNs beginning this Thursday, October 1.

YouTube TV shared the news on Twitter with this message:

To bring you 85+ channels, we periodically renegotiate contracts with content owners. In February, we announced we had negotiated an extension with Sinclair to continue providing FOX Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) through the end of MLB, NHL and NBA seasons.

Now that the seasons are over, that extension is expiring. Starting October 1, 2020, FOX RSNs will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Members that are impacted will no longer have access to Library recordings from the FOX RSNs.

This was a difficult decision made after months of negotiations. We hope we can bring FOX RSNs back in the future. We thank you for your membership as we work to make YouTube TV the best streaming experience. You will receive an email today if you are impacted by this change.
