Pluto TV is Rolling out an Updated Channel Guide

Today Pluto TV rolled out an updated guide to Vizio SmartCast TVs that included some new features including an improved guide.

Now instead of having to scroll through over 200 stations to find what you want, Pluto TV has added categories to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. With these categories, you will now be able to select News, Entertainment, Binge Watch, Life+Style and more to jump directly to the content you want to watch. Pluto TV also updated the on-demand section to make finding movies and TV shows easier.

No word on if or when this new and improved guide will be coming to other devices.

This all comes as Pluto TV recently hit 240 free channels. You can choose from available channels like Pluto TV 007, MTV Pluto TV, Buzzr, CNN, CBSN, Sky News, Court TV, Cake Boss, Comedy Central Pluto TV, and more. The ability to sort the channels by categories will make finding what you want much easier compared to having to scroll through the list of over 200 channels.

Recently, we also learned Pluto TV users are spending more time on the platform than ever before according to ViacomCBS’s CEO and President Bob Bakish. Accord to statements at the UBS Global TMT Conference, Pluto TV is seeing current viewer’s time spent on the app grow far faster than the number of new users. An update like this could make it even easier to spend more time watching Pluto TV.

Is Apple’s $52,599.00 New Mac Pro overpriced?

Apple’s ~~updated~~ [sic all-new] Mac Pro has finally landed, and as expected, it isn’t cheap. While it starts at a vaguely reasonable $5,999, a few taps or clicks spirals this price up to $52,599.

Is the new Mac Pro overpriced? Not really.

To begin with, $52,599 is buying you a lot of hardware… But the most significant part of that hardware is, as you would expect, the RAM. Going from the base 32GB to the 1.5TB option adds $25,000 to the price, not including the fact that 1.5TB of RAM requires upgrading to the 24-core or 28-core Intel Xeon processors, which from the base price adds $6,000 and $7,000 to the amount, respectively. Is $25,000 a lot for that much RAM? Not really. The cheapest I can find is $18,000, and I doubt Apple is using the cheapest.

Pay $5 per month, which adds up to the same price as one console game per year, and you get access to over 100 games and a steady stream of new titles virtually every week. The fact you can play games across iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac and Apple TV and download them to play offline are added bonuses.

While Arcade isn’t perfect and has important opportunities to improve in 2020, it’s still a service that’s easy to recommend — especially at the price. It’s an especially easy service to recommend for parents, since it gets kids off the merry-go-round of in-app purchases. Apple Arcade’s games can also be downloaded to mobile devices to play in the car and while traveling. Plus, the catalog is curated so there’s very little objectionable content. This is why Apple Arcade has been made a CNET Editors’ Choice pick for 2019.
