How to Hide MacOS Catalina from Mac’s Software Update

If you're one of the people that are not ready to upgrade to 10.15 yet, and don't want to see those annoying reminders to upgrade, here's how to temporarily disable those reminders:

  • If System Preferences is open, close it with [Command] + [Q].
  • Open Terminal (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
  • From the command prompt, type: sudo softwareupdate --ignore "macOS Catalina"
  • Press [Return].
  • Enter the Administration Password when prompted.
  • The command will execute, and you'll never be prompted to update again.
  • Type Quit or Exit to close the Terminal window.
  • That's it.
