NASA TV Coverage Set for April 17 Cygnus Launch to International Space Station

NASA’s commercial partner Northrop Grumman is scheduled to launch its Antares rocket carrying its Cygnus cargo spacecraft to the international Space Station at 4:46 p.m. EDT Wednesday, April 17. The launch, as well as briefings preceding and following liftoff, will air live on NASA Television and the agency’s website.

Loaded with 7,500 pounds of research, crew supplies and hardware, this Northrop Grumman’s 11th commercial resupply NASA-contracted mission. It will launch from Virginia Space’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility.

About two-and-a-half hours after launch, an automated command will initiate deployment of the spacecraft’s solar arrays. Full deployment will take approximately 30 minutes.

The Cygnus spacecraft, dubbed the SS Roger Chaffee, will arrive at the space station Friday, April 19. At about 5:30 a.m., Expedition 59 NASA astronaut Anne McClain will grapple the spacecraft using the station’s robotic arm. She will be backed up by David Saint-Jacques of the Canadian Space Agency. NASA astronaut Nick Hague will monitor Cygnus systems during its approach. After capture, ground controllers will command the station’s arm to rotate and install Cygnus on the bottom of the station’s Unity module.

Disney + will cost . . . .

Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, will launch on November 12th for $6.99 a month or $69.99 per year, the company confirmed on Thursday,” Julia Alexander reports for The Verge.

“Similar to Netflix, Disney+ users are greeted by rows of recommended content, new TV series or movies added to the platform, and genres. Unlike Netflix, there are five hubs that sit at the top of the page, which will bring users to designated areas for Disney’s various franchises: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic,” Alexander reports. “Disney+ will be available to stream through smart TVs, web browsers, on tablets and mobile devices, and game consoles… The streaming service has already secured deals with Roku and Sony for availability on their respective platforms.”

“All Disney+ content will be available for offline download, and the company is promising 4K HDR presentation where applicable on TVs,” Alexander reports. “Disney will also end its vault program in time for Disney+, according to a previous investors call. The vault program essentially made it impossible to buy a movie until it was released for a limited time. Now, all movies will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+, according to Iger.”

Health Records on iPhone Now Available to Patients of Community Health Systems Affiliated Hospitals

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 11, 2019--Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) announced today that many of its affiliated hospitals now support Health Records on iPhone, which brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose. Approximately 100 CHS-affiliated hospitals are participating to help patients easily aggregate medical data.

Patients who have received care from a CHS-affiliated participating hospital can use their iPhones to securely receive and store important details from their medical records, including allergies, conditions, immunizations, labs, medications, procedures and vitals. Patients can also receive notifications whenever their data is updated.

“At CHS, we are rapidly expanding our digital health and consumer engagement strategies to provide patients with more convenience, more information, and more control over their healthcare experiences,” said Lynn Simon, M.D, president of clinical operations and chief medical officer of Community Health Systems. “By giving our patients an easy way to receive and track their medical information, we believe we also are giving them one more way to be active participants in managing their health, which can lead to better outcomes.”

Previously, patients’ medical records were held in multiple locations, requiring patients to log into each care provider’s website and patient portal and piece together their health information manually. Now, medical information from each patient’s participating providers is organized into a single view with all of the available information stored together.

“Since most people keep their mobile devices with them, this means all of that medical information is accessible whenever it is needed. We are literally putting health data in the palm of the patient’s hand, which can be critical in an emergency and also enables patients to have more informed conversations with all of their physicians,” said Dr. Simon.

Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic medical records. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
