Sprint Blasts AT&T for claiming 5G in full-page New York Times ad

“Sprint on Sunday took out a full-page ad in The New York Times to call out AT&T for its ‘5GE’ network labeling, which actually offers 4G speeds rather than 5G speeds,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.

“In the letter [PDF], Sprint calls AT&T’s 5G Evolution ‘fake 5G’ and clarifies that AT&T is not, in fact, offering faster speeds than other carriers who deliver the same 4G LTE advancements that AT&T has enabled such as three-way carrier aggregation, 256 QAM, and 4×4 MIMO,” Clover reports. “AT&T first started upgrading customer iPhones to read “5GE” in the iOS 12.2 beta, and the misleading branding will become much more widespread when iOS 12.2 sees a public release.”

“Devices in areas with AT&T’s ‘upgraded” LTE will display “5GE” instead of LTE, but it’s not real 5G. There is no iPhone that exists right now that is capable of connecting to a 5G network, nor does AT&T offer a true 5G network at this time.”

Chicago: Cook County Sheriff warns of Apple iPhone Scam

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart is warning residents about a sophisticated phone scam in which an unsolicited caller claims to be a representative from Apple, Inc.

In the scam, the caller states there has been a security compromise to a user’s device and/or iCloud account, according to a press release from Dart’s office. The caller then asks for personal information such as usernames, passwords and financial information.

Apple is aware of the scam and has stated that its customer service representatives never ask customers to provide information such as passwords or security keys over the phone, according to Dart.

Phone numbers associated with this scam include: (800) 275-2273 and (703) 336-8450. The calls may also come up as Apple Customer Service or Apple, Inc. on caller ID.

Anyone who receives such as call should hang up and call Apple Customer Service: (800) 692-7753.

To avoid becoming a victim of phone scams, Dart advises to never give out personal information, such as social security or bank account numbers, over the phone and to be wary of unsolicited calls that ask you to take action immediately over the phone.

New app tells Conservatives what restaurants they can freely ware the Trump hat

In a day and age where it is cool or hip to be different, it seems some conservatives are not afforded the same luxury as they have been routinely harassed for supporting the president and for wearing his Make America Great Again rep cap.

Mainstream media headlines regularly offer stories of young conservatives getting those red caps ripped off their head or otherwise bothered while just trying to live their lives but a new application is looking to help relieve the targetted harassment.

An application which can be downloaded to a person’s mobile phone is called the 63red Safe app and is described as a “Yelp for conservatives,” the Hill reports.

From the report:

A NEW APP LAUNCHED THIS MONTH TO HELP CONSERVATIVES FIND “SAFE” RESTAURANTS AND OTHER BUSINESSES WHERE THEY WON’T BE HARASSED FOR SUPPORTING PRESIDENT TRUMP.

APP CREATOR SCOTT WALLACE ON MONDAY SAID ON “FOX & FRIENDS” THAT HIS AIM WAS TO GET “POLITICS OUT OF LOCAL BUSINESSES [AND] LOCAL RESTAURANTS.”

Wallace said he knows the harassment is happening and he recognizes some restaurants are not welcoming of people with differing political views.

“We wanted to make sure that people could let others know what restaurants may have a political bent,” he said. “We’re not looking to try and find restaurants that are ‘conservative’ or ‘pro-Trump.’ ”

“We want businesses to understand that there’s no money in politics,” he said. “We want to make sure everyone’s safe out there.”

Here’s more:

THE APP ALLOWS USERS TO LABEL RESTAURANTS AS “SAFE” OR “UNSAFE” FOR CONSERVATIVES BASED ON FOUR QUESTIONS: WHETHER THE RESTAURANT SERVES GUESTS “OF EVERY POLITICAL BELIEF,” IF IT ALLOWS LEGAL CONCEALED CARRY, WILL IT “PROTECT ITS CUSTOMERS IF THEY ARE ATTACKED FOR POLITICAL REASONS” AND IF THE ESTABLISHMENT AVOID POLITICS IN ITS ADS AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

WALLACE TOLD THE DAILY BEAST THAT HE THINKS THE APP WILL GROW IN POPULARITY AHEAD OF THE 2020 ELECTION, WHEN HE SAYS HE THINKS TRUMP SUPPORTERS ARE LIKELY TO BE TARGETED BY “SOCIALIST GOON SQUADS,” SPECIFICALLY NAMING THE ANTI-FASCIST GROUP “ANTIFA.”

“I THINK ANTIFA WAS NOTHING COMPARED BETWEEN NOW AND WHAT’S COMING IN 2020,” HE SAID. “AND I’M DEEPLY CONCERNED.”

ONE RESTAURANT LABELED AS “UNSAFE” ON THE APP, ACCORDING TO THE DAILY BEAST, IS THE RED HEN IN LEXINGTON, VA., WHERE WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS WAS ASKED TO LEAVE LAST YEAR.

According to the report, the 63red Safe is the fourth app designed by the same development team which aims to help protect conservatives. One other app is a news app, another is a “real-time conservative chat” app, and the last is a social gathering planning app.
