Apple registers and gets the name “AirPower”

Amid launch rumors that Apple is preparing to release the AirPower sometime soon, the Cupertino company has finally secured the rights to the AirPower trademark,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors.

It wasn’t easy.

“To get the AirPower trademark, Apple had to jump through quite a few hoops over the course of the last few months, ultimately seeming to purchase access from a company that had previously applied for the trademark,” Clover reports. “After fighting to prevent the AirPower trademark from being granted to Advanced Access Technologies for several months with multiple different filings with the USPTO, Apple yesterday suddenly withdrew its opposition and the dispute was terminated.”

“Just after Apple withdrew opposition on Advanced Access Technologies’ trademark of the AirPower name, an Apple lawyer was appointed the attorney of the trademark case, suggesting that Applepurchased rights to the AirPower trademark from Advanced Access Technologies ahead of an imminent AirPower launch that would not give Apple time to secure the trademark through other means.”

doxo launches Apple Pay to simplify billing to over 45,000 customers

doxo, the online bill payment service, today announced the launch of ApplePay, bringing the convenience of paying bills with just a glance or a touch on iPhone, iPad and Mac to the $3.9 trillion bill pay market comprising 55% of annual household spending. With doxo, consumers already have the ability to pay all their bills with a single login, on any device, using their credit card, debit card, or bank account. With the addition of Apple Pay, doxo expands upon its offering to provide an easy, secure and private way to pay any biller with the most convenient payment options.

“Most of our users’ bill payments each month originate from their mobile devices, and half of those are using an iOS device. So, Apple Pay has been a highly requested feature for its convenience in simplifying and securing payments,” said Steve Shivers, CEO of doxo, in a statement. “This is just one of many steps we’re taking on our mission to greatly simplify and reduce the hassle of bill pay for our millions of users, and thereby bring new benefits to the billers on doxo. Many billers, individually, struggle to keep up with the pace and breadth of payments options. Simply by joining doxo’s national payment network, billers benefit from our continued expansion of payment choices, without having to manage the complexity, integrations and expense themselves.”

Unlike traditional online bill payment options, millions of doxo users organize and stay on top of all their bills with just a single login. Users never have to link away to different sites or manage various credentials and accounts for each of their connected providers. And by paying with doxo, every payment benefits from doxo’s Private Payment Account Protection™ that facilitates secure payments without requiring the user to disclose their personal pay account information to each individual biller.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay, which naturally aligns with doxo’s priorities. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are never stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique token is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device and each transaction is authorized with a one-time dynamic security code. Apple Pay is easy to set up and paying is simple with Touch ID, or just double-click the side button and glance at your iPhone X or later to authenticate with Face ID. Users will continue receiving all of the rewards and benefits offered by their credit and debit cards when they pay their bills with Apple Pay on doxo.

How to Live Stream March Madness 2019

Every year, basketball fans wait for March so they can follow their favorite teams through March Madness.

However, most fans have to work during the event. Fortunately, following the games have gotten easier if you have an iPhone, iPad, or even Apple TV.

So, when is it on?

  • March 19-20: First Four (Dayton, Ohio)
  • March 21-23: First/second rounds
  • March 28/30: South Regional in Louisville, Kentucky
  • March 28/30: West Regional in Anaheim, California
  • March 29/31: East Regional in Washington, D.C.
  • March 29/31: Midwest Regional in Kansas City, Missouri
  • April 6/8: Final Four in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Because of the number of games, the event is broadcast over four different TV Networks including CBS, TBS, and others.

The NCAA March Madness app for iOS and Apple TV is by far the easiest way to stream the games this year. You’ll get three hours of free streaming, but after that you’ll need some sort of cable provider login to continue watching, such as ComCast, RCN, and others. However, if you do have a cable provider, you can pre-verify your access in the app before the games begin.

However, if your interested in trying some streaming services such as DirecTV Now, Sling, YouTube TV and others, they’re offering a free 7 day trial period.  Signing up for these services will give the user easier access to the games when watching from other devices since all they would have to do is download the app and sign in with their username and password that they used when they signed up for the service.
