Microsoft announces ‘Microsoft Surface Go’ to answer for the Apple iPad

Microsoft officially took the wraps off the next product in its Surface lineup, a budget-minded tablet called Surface Go. The Surface Go is a 10-inch tablet that starts at a pocket-friendly $399, but you’ll need to pony up more cash for more storage and memory.

Lighter and smaller than the Surface Pro, the Surface Go features dimensions of 9.6-by-6.9-by-0.3 inches and weighs just 1.2 pounds. The 10-inch 3:2 1800-by-1200 PixelSense Display dominates the front side of the device, but substantial bezels remain on each side of the display.

Preorders start TODAY, July 10th, with shipments scheduled to begin in early August.

The base $399 model ships with 64GB of eMMC flash storage and 4GB of RAM, but users can opt for a $549 model that includes 128GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM. Each of these models come in Wi-Fi-only network configurations.

LTE models and 256GB versions of the Surface Go are slated to go on sale sometime after the August 2 launch of the tablet.

One notable aspect that differentiates this Surface tablet compared to previous models is the presence of USB-C. The Surface Go is the first Surface tablet with a USB-C 3.1 port built in, the universal connector seen on the MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Advanced Tip: Show the /Library/ Folder Permanently on Mac

Yesterday, I showed you how to temporarily show the /Library/ Folder.  Now, let me show you how to show it permanently.

1.  Open a Terminal Window (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal).

2.  Type in the following command: chflags nohidden ~/Library/

3.  Close the Terminal window.

To hide it again, just redo steps 1-2 and replace the nohidden option with hidden.

Advanced Tip: How to (Temporarily) Unhide the Library Folder on Mac

For those of us who use a Mac, we know that the /Library/ Folder could contain some necessary files that we may need for a task.  But this folder cannot be accessed by default.

Here's how to temporarily show the folder:

1. Click on the Finder icon.

2. While holding down the [ALT] key, click on the GO option on the top menu.

3. When that menu drops down, the option for the Library Folder appears.

4. That's it.

Report: Apple Music Surpasses Spotify Subscriber Count in the U.S.A.

Web site Digital Music News is reporting that Apple Music has surpassed another music service Spotify.

An anonymous source, said to be a major U.S.-based distributor, is said to have shared a report with the website detailing the subscriber tallies of several streaming music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM.

Including other online music services, the report claims that both Apple Music and Spotify have more than 20 million subscribers in the United States, with Apple having a slight lead with "20 Million Plus" members.  The exact figures were not reported because the said source for the figures requested confidentiality.

The growth was said to be due to Apple's hardware being in more customers hands, including the recent addition to their HomePod speaker.
