How to get a Word Counter in Pages (for Mac)

Now that we're getting into the 2nd part of the school year, many teachers will be asking for a report that contains a certain number of words (the part that I used to hate with a passion!)

Fortunately, Pages contains a word counter.  Here's how to enable it:

  • Go into Pages and select a new document.
  • At the blank document, select View and then select Show Word Count.
  • The word count will show at the bottom of the document.
  • That's it.

Set a “Sleep Timer” when you play music while listening to it at bedtime

Do you ever listen to music while getting ready for bed or while in bed, and would like the iOS device to automatically shut off after a certain number of minutes or hours?

Here's how:

  • Go into iTunes and select a playlist (or song(s)) to play.
  • With the song playing, go into the Clock app and set the timer for how long you'd want the playlist to play.
  • Tap the button labeled "When Timer Ends".
  • Scroll down until you see the "Stop Playing" option.
  • Now set the time when you want the music to stop playing.
  • That's it!

A nice little feature to make your phone work for YOU.

How to Enable Apple Music on Amazon Alexa

Earlier this month, Apple and Amazon announced that Apple Music would be coming to all Alexa devices.

Obviously, in order for this to work, you have to be a member of Apple Music.

Even though it seems that the feature is slowly being rolled out, and some devices may not have it yet, here's how to enable it when it does become available.

  • Launch the Alexa app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Go into the Skills section.
  • Search for "Apple Music"
  • Go into the skill, and tap Enable.

You can now say "Alexa, play Michael Jackson on Apple Music." on a compatible Alexa device.
