Apple and SNL Teaming up for Funny Ads

According to entertainment publication Variety.com, Apple has made a deal with the cast of Saturday Night Live to produce some upcoming TV and other content ads.

Apple has struck a deal with NBC to have “Saturday Night Live” create commercial content slated to appear in a few weeks’ time. The show’s work for the large consumer-electronics company will look different than its Verizon efforts, according to two people familiar with the situation.  Apple did not respond to queries seeking comment.

The ads are scheduled to appear during the April 8th and April 15th shows.

IRS reports (possible) security breech

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) The Internal Revenue Service says the personal data of as many as 100,000 taxpayers may have been compromised.

They say hackers posed as students using an online “data retrieval tool” to apply for financial aid.

The tool is used by families to import tax information on applications.

The IRS shut down the retrieval tool last month, they say it will be secure and operational by this fall.

Youtube.com announces “YouTube TV”

Announced back in February, YouTube has announced the availability of its new service called YouTube TV.

It features access to ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, CW, Disney, ESPN, FX, USA, and dozens of other major cable channels, alongside standard YouTube video content. Premium channels like Showtime are available for an additional fee.

Unlike other TV services such as DirecTV Now, it is launching in a limited number of cities such as:

  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Los Angeles
  • New York City
  • Philadelphia
  • Chicago.

With more cities scheduled to come online later this year.

NFL coming to Amazon.com

Early Wednesday, Amazon.com and the National Football League has announced that the online retailer will be able to stream 1o Thursday Night Football games as part of Amazon's ever growing list of video offerings.

Amazon paid around $50 million for the rights - which were previously held by Twitter.com.

Streaming is scheduled to start during the regular 2017 football season this Fall.
