Rumor: Apple to Hold Media Event on September 12th

“Apple Inc. has scheduled a product announcement event on Sept. 12, according to people briefed on its plans, reinforcing expectations that the technology giant will release new iPhones and a smartwatch well ahead of the holiday shopping season,” Tripp Mickle and Drew FitzGerald report for the Wall Street Journal.

“The company is expected to unveil three iPhones, according to other people familiar with its plans,” Mickle and FitzGerald report. “Those include a showcase iPhone to mark the product’s 10th anniversary that is larger and pricier and features an edge-to-edge display and facial-recognition technology, as well as updates to the two iPhone 7 models that started selling last year.”

“In the past two years it has used San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, but people close to the company say it is aiming to use the 1,000-seat Steve Jobs Theater on its new headquarters campus,” Mickle and FitzGerald report. “That headquarters, however, isn’t yet finished, and its construction timetable could affect the timing or location of the event, those people said.”

How to keep up-to-date with Hurricane Harvey (and other weather conditions)

Here in the United States, we're watching one hell of a hurricane called Harvey that's scheduled to hit the great state of Texas early Saturday morning.  At times like this, information is power, and the more one has it, the more he/she can make more educated decisions for not only for them, but their loved ones as well.

Fortunately, smartphones have many apps to help anyone keep track of any type of weather condition in and around a given area (or even the world).  Here are some recommendations:

  • WeatherBug - This app gives you current conditions, up-to-the-second radar, local weather warnings, and even how close a lightening strike is.  It is made by the folks at http://www.weatherbug.com/
  • Weather.com - If you'd rather go with a company that has been assisting people through all kinds of weather conditions for the past 30 + years, look no further then The Weather Channel app.  This has local weather warnings, conditions, up-to-the-minute radar, and more.
  • AccuWeather.com - Based in State College, Pennsylvania, AccuWeather provides up-to-the-second radar, forecasts,  local weather warnings, and more.  It's made by the people at AccuWeather.com.
  • Local media outlets - Most (if not all) local TV stations now have their own app that has local weather conditions.
  • Tune In - If you're lucky enough to still have your regular cable, DSL, or Fios connection, you can login to TuneIn.com for your local radio station.

Which ever source your choose, please stay safe, listen to local authorities, and keep that phone with you at all times.
