Q: Can you update an iOS device without plugging it in? A: Yes, but . . . .

So you're on a business trip or vacation and get a notice that their's an update for your iOS device. You'd like to update, but the charging cable is back in your hotel room. Is there a way to update the device without having to plug it in? Yes, but it depends.

Their is a little known fact that all iOS devices can be updated while on battery that is if the device has more than 50% of battery left.

Anything lower than 50% would allow one to download the update, but the device will not update until it is either above 50% battery power, or it is plugged in.

How to update the software on the Apple Watch

As with any piece of computer software, keeping the Apple Watch updated with the latest security fixes and updates should be as important to you as changing your underwear. It ensures that you're using the latest features of the watch.

Updating the watch is a simple process:

Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS.
Plug in the iPhone to either a power outlet or your computer.
Put the Apple Watch on the charger.
On the phone, go into the Apple Watch app.
Select GENERAL > SOFTWARE UPDATE.
Start the update by tapping INSTALL.

Some things to keep in mind:

DO NOT interrupt the update.
DO NOT take the watch off the charger while the update is installing.
Make sure you give the update at least 30-45 minutes to download and install.
Keep the iPhone in range of the watch while the update is happening.
The update process is slower then on the iPhone or iPad.

Verizon is kicking the Yahoo! and AOL names to the curb

Well, it seems that Verizon is sick of both AOL and Yahoo! as it finalizes the purchase of Yahoo!

Thanks to security breachs of gargantuan proportions, Yahoo has lost a ton of value -- and the company was struggling even when Verizon announced its intentions to buy the former internet juggernaut. Part of the value lost is in the Yahoo brand, which Verizon apparently considers toxic at this point. To that end, Verizon is changing the name of the combined Yahoo and AOL company. Business Insider first reoprted that"Oath" will be the new name of the company. Minutes after we published this story, AOL CEO Tim Armstrong confirmed the change in a tweet.
